Last time I checked Canada was till a sovereign nation, able to enact and enforce its own rules and laws and so on ... Yet, lately in our new broadcasts we keep hearing about Canadian Companies being forced to abide by American Laws ... Last week it was a helicopter company in Montreal that had to transfer employees of certain ethnic origins in order to secure a US contract to service helicopters ... Today the news story is about a Canadian Bank who has closed accounts belonging to CANADIAN Citizens who MAY have dual citizenship in Iran, Iraq, Cuba, Sudan, North Korea and Myanmar ... We're an independent and sovereign nation - how can we simply let this happen???
Furthermore, don't we keep hearing the President of the United States telling the world (and us) that he is fighting a war on Terrorism that is about values like freedom, liberty, and democracy?? When did stripping away our rights, and limiting freedoms ever become acceptable???
I'm growing increasingly worried about the state of our world, but it isn't people with names like Bin Laden that worry me ... it's the people with names like Bush, Cheney, Rice and Gates that worry me ...
Come to think of it, this story might be worth a Constitutional Challenge ...
